(KNSI) — If you missed the Skywarn Spotter Class last week due to the snowstorm, you have another chance to get certified.
On Wednesday, April 3rd, Stearns County Emergency Management will host two classes at the County Service Center in Waite Park. The classes are at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. They are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required.
Those who attend will learn how to identify storm structure and intensity, the signs of tornado development, how to safely spot and monitor storms and how to provide spotter reports. While in-depth, the classes are designed for beginners. Those who get certified as a Skywarn Weather Spotter are certified for life, but emergency managers say spotters should brush up on their skills every couple of years.
The class will last around two and a half hours.
To register, contact Bob Brezinka via email at robert.brezinka@stearnscountymn.gov or by phone at 320-259-3940.
