(KNSI) – A fundraiser is underway to keep Freedom Flight’s hot air balloon soaring.
An online auction to benefit the POW/MIA balloon and its crew is now live.
Bidders can get their hands on more than 100 items, including gift certificates for local favorite restaurants, jewelry, a copy of the famous print Reflections, and a one-of-a-kind fire pit made by a Swanville welding class.
The Prisoner of War/Missing in Action balloon honors all Americans left behind on the battlefield. “The reason we fly that balloon is to make people aware that 80,000 people’s families have not had closure,” explains Freedom Flight board member John Pearson.
A new outreach program has accelerated DNA testing on soldiers’ remains from the Korean War. Pearson hopes more families will get answers thanks to testing taking place in Hawaii.
The fundraiser ends on April 6th. To bid, an account must be set up. You can do that by clicking here.
