(KNSI) – Burlington celebrated its grand opening at a new location in St. Cloud with a donation to a local school.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday morning, along with a check presentation for $5,000 to Discovery Community School in Waite Park. District 742 Superintendent Dr. Laurie Putnam spoke with KNSI News moments after the ceremony, saying “The feelings are hard to describe. We feel overwhelmed. We feel grateful to have the support of this community and an institution like Burlington. It’s really just so appreciated. We were able to purchase reading materials; things that really make a difference in our students’ daily lives. We will be able to have some additional curriculum or curricular materials that we just couldn’t afford otherwise.”

Burlington Store Manager Jesse Paulson explained the donation came from the company’s Adopt a Classroom Program, “It’s all about giving and adding value to our community. Burlington partners with a national nonprofit organizations to identify and support local schools that are in need and help provide a much brighter future.”

Dozens of eager customers were waiting to be one of the first 50 through the door and receive a $10 gift card and umbrella.

Burlington has moved from 33rd Avenue South to 3959 2nd Street South in the old Bed Bath and Beyond space.
