(KNSI) – A St. Cloud woman has been endorsed by the Republican Party to challenge District 14 B’s incumbent state representative.
Sue Ek got the GOP’s support during an event last weekend. While giving her endorsement speech, Ek said, “Our Democrat opponent does not represent hard-working, faith-filled Central Minnesotans. I am here to bring balance to the Minnesota House of Representatives.”
Ek told the crowd that she promises to fight for small and large business owners, protect the Second Amendment, encourage parental involvement in education, and support law enforcement. She has a background as the Communications Director for NFP Outreach, Director Emerita and Consultant to BOMA-USA, past board member of Birthline and Project Life, past finance chair, and past Parish Council President for the Church of St. Augustine in St. Cloud.
Ek is a lifelong resident of St. Cloud who has served in the community on several boards and in leadership positions, which have given her the experience needed to represent the area in St. Paul. She attended St. Augustine’s for grade school and graduated from Cathedral High School before attending St. Mary’s in Winona.
She has never been married and has no kids, but she has a dog named Sophie, who she says people will see on the campaign trail and in photos.
In February, Ek announced she was running for the seat when she was a guest of KNSI’s Hot Talk with the Ox hosted by Dan “The Ox” Ochsner.
Ek will be running against current Representative Dan Wolgamott. He is the DFL Speaker Pro Tempore and is expected to seek a fourth term this year.
