(KNSI) – Round one delivered.
It wasn’t quite a knockout blow for the area, but crews were busy plowing area roads and salting after 5.3″ fell overnight at St. Cloud Regional Airport. Some school districts went to a two-hour delayed start until commuting became easier.
St. Cloud got more than the Twin Cities (2.8″ registered at the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen) and Eau Claire, WI (4.3″). As much as eight inches fell towards the Highway 10 corridor near Clearwater and Big Lake or to the south close to Marty.
More is expected from either late Saturday or early Sunday through Tuesday. It is too difficult to forecast how much snow could drop from that system. Temperatures will fluctuate around the freezing point, and a good chunk of the moisture could fall as rain.
