(KNSI) – The Minnesota Twins have a murderers’ row of events slated for Opening Day on April 4th against the Cleveland Guardians.

First pitch in the American League Central tilt is scheduled for 3:10 p.m., but the fun starts early that morning. The Twins invite fans to Breakfast on the Plaza starting at 6:00 for a baseball-inspired meal off of 7th Street. The food and drink are complimentary thanks to corporate partners such as Caribou Coffee and M&M’s. A DJ will provide the music, and the Twins’ television and radio broadcast partners will cover the festivities.

Twins Hall of Famer Tony Oliva will open Gate 6 at 1:00 p.m. The entrance is named after the legend. Kent Hrbek will do the same at Gate 14. You’ll get a glimpse of Justin Morneau at Gate 3, Tom Kelly at Gate 6.5, Dan Gladden at Gate 29, and the family of Kirby Puckett at Gate 34. The first 10,000 fans will get a free Twins beanie hat.

The television broadcast booth will be renamed after Dick Bremer, who called games for the team for 40 years. Bremer is a graduate of St. Cloud State University. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The Burnsville tragedy will be remembered. During pregame introductions, first responders from the city and Dakota County will ring the infield and lineup on the first and third baselines.

A video tribute is planned with the color guard also coming from those departments. A Burnsville group will perform our national anthem, capped off by a flyover from a C-130 Hercules aircraft.

The Twins begin the regular season with a six-game road trip before Opening Day in Minneapolis. In 2023, the team won the American League Central and bested the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason’s Wild Card round. Before last October’s success, the team had not won a playoff game since 2004.
