(KNSI) — The wheels on the bus go round and round, and today is the day to celebrate those who make it happen.
Monday, March 18th, is Transit Employee Appreciation Day.
Locally, St. Cloud Metro Bus has 175 workers, including drivers, the maintenance team, mechanics, and administrators.
Chief Executive Officer Ryan Daniel told KNSI News those workers help provide rides for around 55,000 people a month, and each has a story. “I hear mostly from the community, ‘This is my sense of independence. I don’t have to wait for my grandson or granddaughter to take me to Coborn’s, to CentraCare,’ or wherever they’re going. They can call Metro Bus.”
For over 50 years, the team has been showing up for the community, no matter the weather. “You have all these different moving parts that go into the bus coming to the bus stop to pick our customers up, day in and day out. Whether it’s raining or snowing, whether it is 100 degrees or negative 50 degrees, we’re still out there to safely move St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Waite Park.”
Daniel says every single person who works at Metro Bus deserves recognition. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the great work that our team does every day. From the frontline staff to our operators, all the way up to the administration team, thank you for your passion, dedication, and commitment to ensuring that the rubber meets the road safely on time and without incident.”
If you’re riding Metro Bus today, say thanks to your driver.
