(KNSI) – Sources at Sparboe Farms of Litchfield confirm to KNSI News that the company is now part of Opal Foods.
Sparboe began in 1954 as a chick distributor. It quickly morphed into one of the largest egg farms in the country. The company estimates it has fed over four million families thanks to its long-time status as a key supplier for McDonald’s.
Opal Foods is based out of southwestern Missouri. It produces the popular Eggland’s Best and Land O’ Lakes All-Natural Brown Eggs brands.
In 2023, both companies were among the country’s 25 highest-volume egg producers. The combined business would sit in eighth place overall, scrambling the industry.
No other details on the deal are immediately available.
