(KNSI) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting in Wright County early Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy tried to stop a vehicle at about 4:45 on Ivory Avenue in St. Michael. The driver got out of the car with a weapon and confronted the deputy. The suspect was not compliant with deputy commands, and they fired at the suspect, hitting them.

Life-saving measures were performed but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave as is standard operating procedure.
