Criminals Target Vulnerable Residents in Central Minnesota with Fake SNAP Aid Scam

(KNSI) – Criminals are targeting some of central Minnesota’s most vulnerable residents, just trying to put food on the table.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud is letting its food shelf users know about a scam on Facebook claiming you can get an additional $750 in aid from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program starting March 1st.

The perpetrators are trying to entice scrollers to click on a link for more information. Catholic Charities says do not click on any unknown links on social media. The link takes you to a Google site and isn’t legitimate.

Similar scams have appeared on social media in the last couple of years, usually using some online payment.
