(KNSI) — If you’re wondering where winter went, it’s back.

St. Cloud set a weather record on Monday, hitting a high of 58 around the 3:00 hour. That beat the old record of 55 set in 1958. It was the warmest February day on record in the twin cities as the mercury reached 65. Record keeping goes back to 1872.

A powerful cold front is sweeping across the state, causing temps to plummet through the day on Tuesday and whipping up winds out of the north/northwest to around 35 miles an hour. A band of light snow will develop in western Minnesota and move east through the evening. According to forecasters, snow should start midafternoon around St. Cloud and will last three to four hours at any one location. Less than an inch of accumulation is possible. Temperatures will continue to fall through Wednesday morning when lows will hover around zero. Wind chills will be around -15.

Wednesday daytime highs will be around 20, and we’ll still be dealing with wind chills, but by Thursday, it will seem like none of this ever happened as we’ll see sunny skies and a high in the upper 40s to around 50. The high will be in the upper 50s on Friday, and Saturday will be in the low 50s. Sunday, rain moves in with a high in the low 60s before a rain/snow mix on Monday and back into the 40s.
