(KNSI) — A St. Cloud State University alum is among the three finalists in the running for the next University of Minnesota president.
President of Cleveland State University Laura Bloomberg holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from St. Cloud State University and a master’s in educational psychology from Cornell University. She earned her doctorate in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota.
Regents will meet and select between Bloomberg, the University of Michigan’s vice president for research and innovation, Rebecca Cunningham, and the University of New Mexico’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, James Holloway.
Cunningham holds a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University and a medical doctorate from Jefferson Medical College. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor and a postdoctoral research fellowship with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
Holloway holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois and a certificate in advanced studies in mathematics from Cambridge University. He earned his doctorate in engineering physics at the University of Virginia.
The search for a new president started last year when former leader Joan Gabel announced she would be leaving to become chancellor at the University of Pittsburgh.
