(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Crush boys hockey team fell, 2-1, Saturday in the section semifinal.

Both St. Cloud and their opponent, Buffalo, pulled off improbable upsets to get to the game. The contest was decided in overtime. The Bisons’ Eli Tiernan notched both goals for the winning squad.

Tiernan found space top shelf over Crush goalie Ben Glaesman’s shoulder at 3:22 of the second period. Jack Fitch tied it up less than three minutes later. The two teams skated at one apiece until the extra frame in front of a sold-out Buffalo Civic Center.

The Crush were the seven seed in the section. Buffalo is the six. The Bison meet Elk River Wednesday at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

St. Cloud ends its year at 11-15-1.
