(KNSI) – Presidents Day will mean several changes compared to a normal weekday.
All municipal, state and county government buildings are closed for the holiday, plus federal facilities. Courthouses will also be shuttered for the day. Schools are off as well.
The post office will not be available on Monday, but UPS is running as normal. Other private businesses that will be observing the holiday include most financial institutions, and there is no trading on Wall Street today.
Few restaurants and grocery stores are affected, outside of locations normally closed on a Monday like several sites in downtown St. Cloud. Parking will be free for the day if you are headed to the area.
The holiday is always the 3rd Monday of February. It sits between the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, our 16th Commander in Chief, who guided the country through the Civil War, and the birthday of our country’s first leader, George Washington. It was Washington who set so many precedents for the position, including the simple address of “Mr. President.”
