(KNSI) — A teenager who was reported missing from Pope County last month was found safe in St. Cloud, and her alleged abductor has been jailed in Ohio.
According to police, on January 26th, they received a report of a 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing. Investigators say they believe she had been talking to 22-year-old Trevor Beisser of Zanesville, Ohio, via social media, and he picked her up. She was found several hours later in St. Cloud and safely taken into custody. Beisser is accused of fleeing the state once he learned police were on his trail.
Beisser has been arrested in Ohio and charged with several felonies, including kidnapping to facilitate felony or flight, possessing pornographic work, soliciting a child or someone believed to be a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct, engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct, and distribution via electronic communication material that relates/describes sexual conduct to a child.
He is awaiting extradition to Minnesota to face the charges.
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office says, “Sexual exploitation of our youth and online solicitation of minors continues to be a statewide problem.” The sheriff’s office is “working diligently to address the issue within our local communities. If anyone believes a child is being solicited online for sex, they are encouraged to report it to their local law enforcement.”
The sheriff thanked the St. Cloud Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Crimes Against Children Task Force for their help in the investigation.
