(KNSI) — An off-duty sheriff’s deputy is credited for being in the right place at the right time and stopping a carjacking.
Hennepin County Deputy Shinwaray was on his way home and still in uniform when he was flagged down to help someone at a gas station in Richfield. Body-worn camera footage shows a suspect removing the gas nozzle from the vehicle while it was still pumping and then trying to drive away.
The deputy got the person, identified as 29-year-old Brandon Manypenny, into custody. Manypenny was charged with felony robbery and robbery.
