(KNSI) – The CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force says it arrested a Litchfield man after he tried to flee following an attempted traffic stop.

The incident happened Friday. Members of the group were conducting surveillance on the 39-year-old’s home when they noticed him exit the house and begin to drive away. As they moved to pull him over, the man took off in his car. He crashed a little over a mile from where the initial stop was attempted.

The accident happened at CSAH 1 and West Ripley Street. He was arrested on multiple charges. A press release says the task force executed a search warrant after the apprehension. Members found roughly 50 fentanyl pills plus more than 10 ounces of methamphetamine and cash.

The release says the task force was helped by the Litchfield Police Department and the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.
