(KNSI) – The Initiative Foundation awarded nearly 150 grants in the last three months of 2023 alone. The disbursements totaled almost $900,000.

That includes the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Main Street Economic Revitalization Program. The foundation was the regional overseer of the grants, relying on recommendations from economic development authorities and other groups in communities across central Minnesota, including Cold Spring and St. Cloud. About $441,000 was disbursed in the fourth quarter. In total, the program has allotted almost $4.3 million.

Roughly $304,000 came from the Partner Fund. The Innovation Fund dished out another $142,000. Of that money, $5,000 went to Anna Marie’s Alliance to partner with Avivo Family Services and Terebinth Refuge to help women find a permanent job. The City of Sartell got $5,000 to develop a new governance policy promoting civility.
