(KNSI) — You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Well, a young lady from Albany aimed to do just that.
Dr. Jason Spychala, or Dr. Jason as he’s better known, learned about Parker Rosen’s goal to bring an AED machine to Albany. He says he “admired her passion and drive to make it happen. It was all her idea, but I’m happy to support it for her and for our community.”
Parker took all the dollars and change collected from her lemonade stand and breathed life into her vision to install an automatic external defibrillator in the town. It would not have been possible without the community’s support and a little polish from a local dentist.
Every single penny of the $700 she took in with her lemonade stand went to the AED, while Dr. Jason and the Joel Birr Memorial Foundation chipped in the rest. The shiny red box now stands outside Albany Family Dentistry.
Even though Dr. Jason may keep office hours, the outdoor AED is available 24/7/365, right on Main Street. The user-friendly design can withstand Minnesota’s extreme cold and hot temperatures, providing potentially lifesaving assistance while people wait for emergency help to arrive.
“It’s heartwarming to know that community members like Parker are contributing to this cause,” said Dr. Spychala. “She is truly inspiring, and her approach to care very much aligns with our dental clinic, which focuses on care of the whole person in a very holistic and wellness-focused way.”
