(KNSI) – A central Minnesota bank is helping a police force keep its residents safe.
The Foley Police Department was given a $1,500 check from Great River Federal Credit Union to put together trauma bags. Police Chief Katie McMillin told KNSI News the money is a huge boost to the department. “I am so grateful when people donate to the police department for things like this. Being a smaller agency, we do not have a big budget where we can go out and purchase these items.”
McMillin says the funds will let the department order supplies and assemble the trauma bags. “We got to see what all we can fit in it. And so, myself and another officer are working on finding what would be the best fit. And then, we’ll be ordering all the supplies that we can fit into there.”
The bags will contain things like compression bandages and tourniquets.
Officers hope to have enough supplies to make three or four kits, with two or three being placed in squad cars and one at the high school. The bags should be on the streets in a couple of months.
