(KNSI) – Stearns County commissioners will get together twice next week to tackle key topics.

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners has invited local lawmakers to the administration building for a forum. The meeting starts at 11:00 a.m. and is meant to give commissioners and key department directors a chance to talk with legislators on various topics facing Stearns County before Senators and representatives head back to St. Paul. The 2024 Legislative Session begins on February 12th.

The board will also meet with the architectural firm Klein McCarthy about the Stearns County Justice Center. The work session will be held Tuesday at 8:30. The county is considering several options to upgrade or replace its current jail and other law enforcement facilities. Stearns County will ask voters to approve a 3/8 cent sales tax in November to cover the cost.
