(KNSI) — St. Joseph’s 11th annual Snowfest starts Monday.
Everything kicks off with the medallion hunt, which begins at 9:00 a.m. when the first clue is released. Parks and Recreation Director Rhonda Juell tells KNSI News it is hidden in one of the parks. “What I like about it is, I can give them clues and send them to parks that they didn’t even know we had in town. We have nine parks in town, and a lot of people say, ‘I didn’t know this was a park,’ when they found the medallion in one of them. So yeah, it is nice to get people out and about around different parks in town.”
Juell explained the hunt has become a popular tradition. “We see a lot of families going out together to do the medallion hunt, and so, that’s always fun to see. The families coming in when they find it or talking about how they searched this park or that park for the medallion.”
While it’s the festival’s most popular event, the week-long search leads to Saturday’s family fun in Memorial Park. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there will be sledding, ice skating and lessons, face painting, cookies, cocoa, and snow painting. The downtown game crawl is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and costs $5. Bad Habit Brewing, Sal’s, The Middy and The LaPlayette are taking part.
