(KNSI) – One person had to be taken to St. Cloud Hospital after a fire occurred in a second floor hotel room at the Days Inn by Wyndham on 37th Avenue South.
The St. Cloud Fire Department responded to the incident just after 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, people were still evacuating the building, and flames were coming from an extended stay apartment on the upper level.
The crew started fire suppression efforts immediately and attempted to salvage personal property that was left behind. The city health department and the fire marshal declared the unit uninhabitable, but residents staying in surrounding rooms were allowed to head back inside several hours later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A Critical Incident Report did not mention the severity of the injuries to the person who was hospitalized.
