(KNSI) – Flags will be flying at half-staff on Friday to honor a fallen soldier from Minnesota.
Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags lowered at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on January 5th in honor of Sergeant Cade Michael Wolfe’s memorial. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to lower their flags.
Wolfe was aboard a UH-60 helicopter that went down in the Mediterranean Sea in November during a training mission. He enlisted in 2018 as a UH-60 repairer and served as an MH-60M crew chief. His awards and decorations included two Army Commendation medals and an Army Achievement medal.
“Minnesota is deeply saddened by the loss of Sgt. Cade Michael Wolfe, a Minnesotan who dedicated himself to selflessly serving our nation and keeping our country safe,” said Governor Walz. “With deep gratitude, Minnesota recognizes Sgt. Cade Michael Wolfe for his dedicated service to, and sacrifice for, his state and country. His family, loved ones, and community are in our prayers.”
The 24-year-old Mankato native’s funeral is at 3:00 p.m. at the Mankato National Guard Armory. All are welcome to join Cade’s family and loved ones to honor him.
The service will be live-streamed.
