(KNSI) – The lack of snow is forcing some changes, and even cancellations, for area events.

The St. Cloud Park and Recreation department has canceled this weekend’s Skiing, Sledding, and Snowshoeing Sunday session January 7th. The Eras Swiftie Skate set for Saturday, January 13th, is also being taken off the schedule. The department says it made the decisions after considering the area’s near-term forecast.

The Stearns County Parks Department tells KNSI that this Friday’s moonlight ski is now a hike. Parking will be free at Quarry Park, with bonfires, s’mores, cookies, and drinks dotting the trails at the popular recreation spot. The moonlight hike runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is being hosted in conjunction with the Nordic Ski Club of Central Minnesota. Door prizes will be handed out, including annual parking permits, maple syrup, and gift cards from Fitzharris Ski and Sport and Revolution Cycle and Ski.

Quarry Park is located at 1802 County Road 137 in Waite Park.
