(KNSI) — The Stearns County Parks Department is thinking on its feet with the warm weather and turning on the lights at Quarry Park, but not for skiing.
Hikers, bikers, and pets (on leash) are welcome to use the lighted trails this weekend.
Normally the lights are only turned on when the trail is groomed for cross country skiing. Thanks to funding from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Nordic Ski Club, the lights are on the designated ski trails and will be lit up for hiking and biking until 10:00 p.m. Friday, December 22nd through Monday, December 25th.
When there is enough snow to groom the trails, the lights will be turned back on for cross country skiing.
