(KNSI) – Eight programs in School District 748 are getting an extra boost.
The Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation has released the list of winners for its Fall Granting Cycle for the 2023-2024 school year. The organization awarded $14,678 in grants to innovative, leading-edge projects benefiting students.
The nonprofit donated $4,000 as start-up funding for a newly formed DECA club to support students interested in business at Sartell High School. The SSEF gave $3,825 to the Pine Meadow Primary School reading garden to add hammocks and extra space.
They handed out $1,500 to launch a Unified Club to bridge the gap between special education students and their fellow students. The high school will get $1,200 for its Sabre Book Club. The foundation gave another $1,500 for books for early readers at Riverview Intermediate School and $1,153 to buy trivia buzzers to encourage engagement in learning for third graders in the building.
SSEF officials set aside $1,000 for instruments and supplies for Sartell Middle School’s adaptive music and music therapy program for kids with developmental coordination disorder. SMS will also get $500 for its morning news show
The group awards grants twice a year through an application process. Since 2005, more than $500,000 in grants have been awarded to the Sartell-St. Stephen School District by the organization.
