(KNSI) – The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been brought in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Marshall that occurred early Sunday.
The city’s police department says in a release that it responded to a domestic disturbance incident at 2:40. When the first officer arrived on scene, they witnessed a woman being stabbed by a man. The officer is alleged to have first used a taser on the suspect.
Eventually, a gun was used. According to the department, life-saving measures were implemented at the scene, but they were unsuccessful. The woman had to be airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is listed in critical condition. No one’s identity has been disclosed yet. The incident is not believed to be random violence.
The Marshall Police Department says it understands that when someone loses their life, it is always a tragedy that affects the person’s family and the community as a whole. The BCA will provide any updates.
