(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Regional Airport is preparing for take-off to the tropical Sunshine State next week.
Airport Director Bill Towle says the travel bug has hit people early, and seats to Florida are going fast. “Right now, they’re about 90% full, and that’s even more than we see normally around this time. I would say it’s probably the busiest in years. And we’re seeing that across the country as well.”
They are expecting to have as many passengers as they did in 2019. The airport offers twice-weekly flights to Mesa, Arizona, which will increase to four flights a week in mid-February. Flights to Mesa will be availible year-round. Crews will start taking passengers to Punta Gorda, Florida, twice a week, beginning on Wednesday and continuing through April 14th.
Towle says if you want to be on one of those planes, you’d better make plans now. “As you get closer to the date that you want to leave, there are typically less seats available. And then it’s that typical supply and demand model. The less seats available, sometimes those seats are more expensive.”
For those taking a flight out of the St. Cloud airport, he advises getting there at least 90 minutes before departure.
