(KNSI) – What would an episode titled “Mr. Monk Goes To Auction” look like?

Students at St. John’s Prep Middle School got a chance to find out while helping a family at Anna Marie’s Alliance. Each item in the “white elephant” auction was a mystery to the middle schoolers making the bids. They were labeled with a clue, and the kids had to play detective to decide if it was worth trying to win.

They eventually unwrapped everything from Christmas candy to fun things like flip-flops and plastic insects. The items were donated in secret by the students themselves.

The school has done the auction for over two decades. The proceeds this year came out to $1,882. Middle school teacher Cameron Swanson will take a group of students shopping with the money to fill a wish list of a family staying at the local domestic violence shelter.

Other teachers who helped with the auction were Jeff Kirchoff, Ashleigh Severson, and Robert Ellenbecker.
