(KNSI) — St. Paul police have released body cam footage of a fatal officer involved shooting December 7th.

Two videos show an officer arriving at a call from a woman who said a man she had a domestic abuse no contact order against was following her, had rammed her car, and threatened her with a gun.

The footage shows the 24-year-old man, identified as Brandon Keys, next to the driver’s side window of the woman’s car. The officer yells at him to get on the ground three times. Keys walks back to his car and crouches down behind his open car door before standing up and opening fire, shooting the officer in the leg. He returned fire, seriously injuring Keys. The officer immediately announced over his radio shots had been fired and called for medics.

The woman drives away but returns on foot, running toward Keys, yelling that the cop has to help him.

The officer, with his gun drawn, then limps over to where Keys is lying before backup arrives. The officer grabs Keys’s gun and moves it out of his reach.

Keys was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died the next day. The officer was treated and released. No one else was hurt.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is still investigating.
