(KNSI) – ROCORI High School will pay the ultimate compliment to a legendary basketball coach on Friday night.
A pregame ceremony will rename the Spartans’ home court after Bob Brink. He was on the sideline for 936 victories, making him one of the state’s winningest prep coaches of all time.
Brink led the ROCORI boys teams to 13 state tournament appearances and a 1988 state title. He loved farming and had an affinity for raising black Angus cattle. His herd on the hardwood stormed to a combined winning percentage of about 74% over his 43-season career.
The coach was a native of Platte, South Dakota. He began in that state as a teacher and coach. He moved to ROCORI High School in 1969. Brink retired from the job in 2012 and spent the rest of his life next to his high school sweetheart, Judy, whom he was married to for over 60 years. Brink died following a battle with Alzheimer’s in October 2021.
Brink is a member of both the Minnesota State High School League and Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fames.
