(KNSI) — The Tip a Cop event at Texas Roadhouse Wednesday night raked in more than $3,000 for charity.

The serve portion of Serve and Protect was literally on display as local police officers helped the wait staff at Texas Roadhouse deliver drinks and dinner and clear tables to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Members of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, including Sheriff Steve Soyka, plus officers from the Sartell Police Department, Sartell Chief Brandon Silgord, Belgrade/Brooten Police Chief Casey Jansky, and officers from Albany and surrounding departments waited tables from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Diners also got to meet some of the athletes and see who they were helping directly with their donations.

In all, $3,436 was raised for Special Olympics of Minnesota.

The departments thanked the staff at Texas Roadhouse for “putting up” with them. They also thanked the community for their generous support.
