(KNSI) – The Waite Park Police Department is ready to repurpose its coffee urns for a hot beverage that is loved by all ages.
Officers will be passing out delicious hot chocolate, coinciding with a popular local event. They’ll be in the Moose Lodge 1400 parking lot on Sunday, December 10th.
Community Outreach Officer Alicia Mages says everyone is welcome to “CoCo with PoPo.” She tells KNSI News, “We will be outside with big carafes full of cocoa and some little marshmallows, and you can come up and say hello and visit with us.”
Mages says it is perfect for those enjoying Breakfast with Santa nearby and those of different faith or holiday traditions. Some activities at the Moose Lodge will happen outside, where you are exposed to the elements.
“They are doing horse-drawn wagon rides, and so as people are getting on and off of that, they can stop by and warm up with some cocoa. This is the second time that we’ve done this event there, so we are looking forward to seeing people again this year.”
The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The lodge is located at 1300 3rd Street North in Waite Park. The breakfast costs $12 for adults and $5 for kids under 10. Everything else is free, including a photo with the Man in Red, the craft workshop, face painting, and other fun.
