(KNSI) — A new class of permits was created, and a new batch of public hearings were set at Monday night’s St. Cloud City Council meeting.
By a unanimous vote, a new interim use permit will allow residential accessory structures such as a garage or shed to be built on a lot before a house. The other use would apply to temporary excavation permits for dirt, gravel or granite. The cost of a permit is $600. The idea for the IUP started last spring when a property owner wanted to build a garden shed on a lot he bought and intends to use as an urban orchard.
Also, at last night’s meeting, public hearings were set for December 4th to touch on different proposed construction projects. The first is for a three-story, 48-unit apartment building with storefronts on the first floor near the roundabout on County Road 4 and County Road 120. The second hearing is for constructing a bank, fast food restaurant and retail space in the former District 742 media center site. The three buildings would create around 13,000 square feet of space and be considered a gateway to downtown St. Cloud.
