(KNSI) – Eden Valley-Watkins continues its dominance, securing a place in the Class AA state final.
The Eagles briefly trailed in the first quarter after they exchanged scores on consecutive drives with their opponent, Cannon Falls. The Bombers got the two-point conversion, while EV-W failed. The 8-6 deficit eventually flipped to a 36-8 advantage by the fourth quarter. Cannon Falls scored twice in the last frame, but they never threatened. The final was 42-24.
Eagle quarterback Nolan Geislinger led his team in rushing, picking up 120 yards on 12 carries. He was also 5-8 for 179 yards and three touchdowns, or close to 36 yards per completion.
The Bombers tried to play keepaway. They had four players get to double figures in rushing attempts. The Eagles’ offense was stuck on the sideline as Cannon Falls racked up 73 rush attempts and over 34 minutes of possession. The Bomber attack totaled an exceptional 449 yards on the ground.
When Eden Valley-Watkins was on the field, they were potent. In addition to the incredible passing average, they rushed for over eight yards per carry as a team.
The Eagles have outscored their opponents 102-24 in the state tournament so far. They play Barnesville on Friday, November 24th, for a championship.
