(KNSI) – The COUNTRY Lights Festival is scrambling after it was discovered Thursday that the Christmas tree decorations that had been prepped for display were broken.
Several wires were destroyed, ruining the strands. Organizers are asking for the public to make donations and will try to get the displays out in time for the scheduled opening on Friday, November 24.
This week was supposed to be the final volunteer push to put the finishing touches on setup. The festival is located next to the Sartell Community Center and Chateau Waters off of Pine Cone Road. Any donations should be dropped off at the center.
Mayor Ryan Fitzthum said in a Facebook post on Thursday that 20,000 visitors walk through the display each year.
