(KNSI) – Crews are racing to finish a major road project on Highway 23 between Paynesville and Richmond.
Work should finish on November 2nd, weather permitting. Crews are working to complete the final section of the roadway now, and striping is scheduled for next week.
Since the project began in May, drivers have used an alternative path between the two towns. Traffic has been rerouted to County Road 33, County Road 32, and County Road 12. Travelers are asked to stay on the main detour for the duration of construction.
It’s the second and final year of the $41.6 million project. The project creates a four-lane highway between Willmar and Interstate 94 in St. Cloud. All but 16 miles of the 53-mile stretch have been completed.
