(KNSI) — The Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board has appointed an interim member to take over for the retiring Jan Solarz.

On October 19th, it was announced the board would interview four candidates for the position after combing through the numerous applications. As part of the process, Samantha Dwyer, Gary Foss, Melissa Rowe and Krista Theisen were asked to submit a paper about their reasons for wanting to become a board member. The board interviewed the four on Wednesday and selected Dwyer to complete Solarz’s term.

Solarz retired from the board on October 10th after serving for 27 years.

Per statute, Dwyer can only become a seated board member 30 days after the decision is made. That will happen at the board’s work session on Monday, November 27th.
