(KNSI) – Minnesota’s drought outlook is relatively unchanged from last week.
Central Minnesota remains dry compared to the rest of the state, with the St. Cloud metro area in severe drought. The remainder of Benton and Sherburne County are in moderate drought. Western Stearns County is also in moderate drought except in the southwest corner around Brooten, Belgrade and Paynesville. That area is abnormally dry, a predrought stage.
The only place where it remains extremely dry is in Fillmore and Mower County in the state’s southeastern corner.
Statewide, 25.36% of Minnesota is in severe drought, and 58.45% is in moderate drought. Only 4.27% of the state is at normal soil moisture levels.
