(KNSI) – The homeless encampment located outdoors next to the Lincoln Center shelter was notified by city officials on October 20th to clear out.
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis tells KNSI News there are still a handful of tents at the site, but they must be out by November 1st at the latest. Place of Hope has resumed operations at its buildings, making over 100 beds available. That was the driving factor in the decision.
Kleis says with snow forecast this weekend, it’s time to assume winter-like conditions going forward, making outdoor tents a potential safety concern.
Those who decide not to use Place of Hope, which forbids substance use of any kind at its shelter, will not be allowed to return to public grounds throughout the city.
