(KNSI) — Authorities say a 59-year-old man has died after a farming accident Sunday afternoon.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call came in just after 1:00 on October 15th for a man run over by a tractor in Luxemburg Township just north of Wakins. Others at the scene told police Matthew Mathies was trying to hook up a wagon to the rear of his tractor/corn picker combo when the tractor began to roll forward on a slight decline. Mathies tried to jump onto the tractor to stop it from rolling into a shed when he slipped and was run over.
Life saving measures were taken, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in the investigation, which the sheriff’s department says is routine in this type of matter.
