(KNSI) — A heavily traveled stretch of road in St. Cloud is back open after months of single-lane traffic clogging up the area, outraged business owners and frustrated drivers.
The work on County Road 75, a.k.a. 2nd Street South, is complete from Highway 15 to Cooper Avenue. It started in July, but Up in Smoke BBQ’s Tim Hoefer says the work shifted into high gear too quickly, making it difficult for customers to reach businesses through the zone.
Hoefer said he petitioned the county, and they were sympathetic but said the project was paid for partially through federal funds, which needed to be used by a certain date.
The work involved removing and replacing pavement and various curb and gutter locations. The resurfacing and striping are also complete.
