(KNSI) – Weeks of preparation are helping to transform 33 acres of Sartell into a winter wonderland.
Volunteers began assembling metal trees and fixing the barrel train in September to ensure another great season for the COUNTRY Lights Festival. Everything will be ready by the day after Thanksgiving and run through December.
The display is set up just off Pinecone Road near the community center. When the lights turn on, the public can walk through the park any evening. There will be some extras, including hot chocolate stands from 5:00 to 7:00 and train rides between 5:30 and 7:00 every Friday and Saturday through the holiday season.
Community Engagement Director Nikki Sweeter says they are still finalizing details for special events like s’mores with firefighters, senior night, and visits from Santa. Organizers say the festival features over one million lights.
Sponsors include COUNTRY Financial, the City of Sartell, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union, BlueLine Sports Bar and Grill, Granite Logistics, Minnesota Lighting, Fireplace and Flooring, and Premier Real Estate Services.
