(KNSI) – Credit union employees across the state will take advantage of the Columbus Day federal holiday Monday by paying it forward.
In St. Cloud, Great River Federal Credit Union is holding a winter coat drive, among several other projects. They will also have a toiletries drive to fill baskets for foster children, make tie blankets, clean up ditches along two sections of highway, and construct a retaining wall with Habitat for Humanity.
SPIRE Credit Union will be active in Mora, tidying up the ditches along Highway 23. Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union is also doing tie blankets. They’ll be handing those out to crisis shelters. In Pequot Lakes, employees are taking part in an adopt-a-pet event. Mora and the Brainerd area are both only about 45 minutes from St. Cloud.
CU Forward Day was started by St. Paul-based Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in 2013. The Minnesota Credit Union Network began to organize the effort in 2017.
