(KNSI) — Organizers of the 2023 United Way of Central Minnesota Days of Caring call the week-long volunteer event one of the group’s most successful.
Over 500 volunteers completed 65 projects for 30 local nonprofits from Monday, September 18th, through Friday, September 22nd. They gave 1,507 hours of service. That’s an estimated $51,946 worth of work.
“We collaborate with any nonprofit in Central Minnesota to help connect them with volunteers to get projects done,” said UWCM’s Director of Volunteer Engagement Mary Krippner. “This is a great opportunity for them to get the support they need, as well as for our volunteers to explore new opportunities to give back.”
Volunteers helped with youth activity kit assembly, building construction, indoor and outdoor cleanup, cleaning up public spaces, collecting electronic devices to refurbish, creating birthday cards, installing holiday lights, landscaping, painting, packaging and preparing meals, planting trees, reading with students, washing cars, and more.
Each September, area residents rally together to harness their volunteer spirit to help out dozens of area nonprofits.
