(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reports that fall color is already in full bloom in nearby Little Falls.
As of this morning at Charles Lindbergh State Park, nearly every tree is showing color, except for the late-turning oaks, according to the agency’s Fall Color Finder website. The department says the change is “well ahead of normal.”
The wind and rain the past several days has already begun to knock down some leaves. The ground is described as increasingly littered with reds and yellows.
Staff recommends visitors take the road attached to the campground for a great view. Another option is the trails near Pike Creek. This Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the Minnesota Historical Society as the caretaker of the Charles Lindbergh House. See the residence, enjoy family activities, a fly-in of historical planes at the nearby airport, and enjoy the brief but spectacular display of color.
