Benton County Hires Construction Manager for New Government Center

(KNSI) – The Benton County Board of Commissioners has hired a construction manager for a new government center.

The board has signed a contract with Contegrity Group out of Little Falls on Tuesday for $830,000. The cost includes a $22,000 fee, $335,000 in site expenses, plus 1.9% of the construction cost. Benton County Administrator Montgomery Headley talked with KNSI News right after the meeting and explained the company has experience working on county buildings. “They’ve done many significant county projects. For example, they did the Wright County Government Center, they’re working with Jackson County on a new law enforcement center, they’ve worked with McLeod County, Renville County, Lyon County. So, they have a tremendous amount of county experience and I think that very much impressed our county board.”

Headley told KNSI News what is next from Contegrity. “One of the most important things that we need right now is an estimate of what the project could cost us. And that will then be used for possible county improvement plan bonding that would help finance the facility.”

The company will also help put the project out to bid and evaluate those bids. After construction begins, Contegrity will be the onsite job superintendent to manage all facets of the work through completion.

The plan is to build a two-story, 55,000-square-foot facility on land across the street from the current government center in Foley. The county bought the lot last year. An early estimate for the project is around $23 million, but that figure will likely be revised.

The county hopes to have a detailed cost analysis by November’s meeting.
