(KNSI) – St. Cloud Area Schools Superintendent Dr. Laurie Putnam will host her first Coffee and Conversation session of the new school year on Friday morning at the district’s headquarters in Waite Park on Highway 23.
She talks about the purpose of the 9:00 a.m. get-togethers. “The intention of these are for any community member to come talk with other citizens, talk with me, talk with our leadership team about either things that are on their mind, or often we will ask for feedback around specific information. Perhaps the start of the school year, which is likely what the topic will be this month.”
Putnam is entering her second year as head of District 742. She says it isn’t necessarily easier than her first as each one is unique and brings with it new successes and difficulties. Putnam tells KNSI News that one big challenge has gone away, though.
“I do want to give a shout out — Our transportation team worked very hard to recover from some of the bus driver shortages and they really just knocked it out of the park this year. Very few late buses, we didn’t have to condense any routes.”
This week is a busy one for the schools. On Thursday, there is the grand opening of the Katherine Johnson Education Center and Friday is the dedication of the new field at Apollo High School.
