(KNSI) – This weekend is the Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser at Eastman Park.

On Saturday, September 23rd walkers will stroll around Lake George to help raise money to help local families living with Alzheimer’s and dimensia. Organizer Jenny Theis says the goal is to have around 450 people come join in.

They also hope to raise $140,000 and are about halfway there. Says the money raised will “stay here in St. Cloud and help with things like care support and education. And then, of course, kind of my favorite part, the money also goes to worldwide research so we can find a cure to end Alzheimer’s.”

The Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota also uses the funds to sponsor a 24/7 helpline at 1-800-272-3900.

People can register online or on-site the day of. Theis says they do encourage people to enlist early and fundraise.
